​Gordon L. Beil Memorial Scholarship

The Gordon L. Beil family and friends, many who grew up in the Boone County Schools system,  established this scholarship to honor his life, dedication to math and education, and long career at Conner High School.

​Ms. Kemper Gurren

We are pleased to award the 6th Gordon L. Beil Memorial STEM Scholarship to Ms. Kemper Gurren!

This award recognizes Kemper's passion for STEM, her academic achievements, advanced studies, leadership and mentorship, and career choice of Registered Nurse, and Doctor of Nursing Practice with a goal of working in pediatric oncology.

Kemper has excellent achievements in overall academics (Honors and Advanced Placement courses), school-related STEM & extra-curricular programs, leadership, mentorship, work, and community volunteer involvement.

In the Leadership League, she was instrumental in starting a Teacher Appreciation group. In sports, she was Captain of the Girls' Bowling Team. Her Senior classmates voted her "Most Likely to Succeed". One of her teachers recommended Kemper for this scholarship in part based upon her collaboration, mentorship and quiet leadership, patience, kindness, people skills, and "making her classroom a better place" for all. These qualities are an incredible foundation for success for a future nurse.

Kemper is a National Honor Society member, a Senior mentor, and member of Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA). She has extensive volunteer experience including Thornwilde Elementary's cheer squad, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), and multiple Conner events in middle and high school.

Kemper has been accepted to five universities known for superior nursing programs, and has been admitted to University of Kentucky - go Cats! She was inspired to enter nursing through her sister's thirst for knowledge, and her family's own experiences with hospitals and health issues.
