| We are pleased to award the first Gordon L. Beil Memorial STEM Scholarship to Ms. Faith Carroll. This award recognizes Faith's passion for STEM, her academic excellence, advanced studies, and her career choice of computer sciences. She was inspired by her father, an engineer, who introduced her to his job and how it works. STEM inspires her to think how technology has made lives better, how the programs work, and how things can be improved upon. In high school, Faith completed several graduate level courses in computer sciences.participated in the early college program, and maintained a 4.0 unweighted GPA. She was a member of Conner's "Girls Who Code", a nationwide non-profit whose mission is to support and increase women in computer sciences. She worked a part-time job while carrying a full academic load. She is also an accomplished violinist. She describes herself as determined, hardworking, curious, helpful, respectful, and a listener. These qualities certainly show in her academics, activities, interests and work; her supporters agree. Faith is also one of 305 Northern Kentucky high schoolers to have received a 2018 Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship (KEES) based upon academic excellence. Faith attends Northern Kentucky University and loves her studies. Her goal is to achieve a BS in Computer Science. We wish her the best and know she will be successful in her endeavors. |
